PRESS RELEASE: My Safety Buddy at S.I.A. Victorian Safety Symposium

I was pleased to be a guest presenter at the Victorian Safety Symposium organised by the Victorian Branch Committee of the Safety Institute of Australia. This was an exciting event to be involved in.

This year’s theme, Digital Health and Safety, is a growing conversation as health and safety professionals seek to navigate their way through the complex digital landscape.

I was invited to discuss the topic “Can we use technology to support lone and remote workers?” using insights gained through our development of our lone worker safety solution, My Safety Buddy.

The main issues I raised in my presentation were:

• The risks and consequences of an injury to an organisation.

• How to use technology driven solutions to mitigate and manage risk.

• Desirable functionality when thinking about solutions for lone worker safety.

• The benefits of smartphone app solutions for lone worker safety compared to stand alone devices.

• Challenges to implementing technology driven solutions for lone worker safety.

We also took part in the event expo which allowed us to meet many of the delegates and to discuss the hot topics raised by my presentation with them one on one. We look forward to being involved in more SIA events.

Feel welcome to contact me directly if you are interested in finding out more about My Safety Buddy or would like a copy of my presentation.
