The My Safety Buddy app can be installed on both Android and Apple:
• Android smartphones (for most Android phones the minimum is 10.0 or later)
• Apple smartphones (iOS 16.0 or later)
To work properly on an iPhone, the “Location” setting should be set to “Always” on your iPhone. This allows the app to work correctly in the background.

Note that even with this set to “Always”, My Safety Buddy can only track your location while you are signed in to My Safety Buddy.

Depending on your iPhone and iOS version, you may not be given the option to select “Always” during installation.

If this is the case, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > MSB then select “Always”.

iOS Location Settings

For users on the Plus and Premium Plans, My Safety Buddy will send your Emergency Notifications to the My Safety Buddy 24/7 Monitoring Service in Australia.

Our trained Australian staff will receive your Emergency Notifications and then follow your pre-set instructions, calling you, your emergency contacts, and if required, calling emergency services (police / fire / ambulance).

Our 24/7 Monitoring Service has built-in redundancy with multiple sites that can respond to your Emergency Notifications. Each site has backup IT systems, backup communications systems, backup internet connectivity, backup power and high security.

Please note: 24/7 Monitoring is included on the Plus and Premium plans. 24/7 Monitoring is not included on the Basic Plan.

You can choose whether you would like your Emergency Notifications to be sent to the My Safety Buddy 24/7 Monitoring Service or to your own internal emergency contacts.

The My Safety Buddy 24/7 Monitoring Service is included on the Plus and Premium plans.

The My Safety Buddy 24/7 Monitoring Service is not included on the Basic Plan.

Simply choose the My Safety Buddy plan that suits you.

Emergency Notifications are sent to your own internal emergency contacts on the Basic plan.

Emergency Notifications are sent to the My Safety Buddy 24/7 Monitoring Service for users on the Plus and Premium plans.

The My Safety Buddy 24/7 Monitoring Service is recommended if:

  • Your designated internal emergency contacts will not be available to respond to Emergency Notifications at all times; or
  • Your staff work outside of general business hours and you do not want to disturb your managers unnecessarily at night or on the weekends.

Yes. You can divide your team into 2 groups – one group using the 24/7 My Safety Buddy Monitoring Service, and the other group will have their Emergency Notifications sent directly to your internal emergency contacts.

You can access the My Safety Buddy Web Portal from any device (desktop, laptop, tablet or phone) that has an internet browser.

The Wearable Duress Buttons are an optional add-on. They can be carried discreetly in a pocket, worn on the wrist, or around the neck as a pendant.

Each kit includes the duress button, lanyard/pendant/keychain, wristband, and charging cable.

The First 30 Days FREE offer applies to the Basic Plan, Plus Plan and Premium Plan.

When you register for My Safety Buddy, you are agreeing to a recurring subscription contract with My Safety Buddy on a monthly, annual, or other temporal basis. Your subscription is continuous until you cancel it.

You can cancel My Safety Buddy at any time during your first 30 days and NO cancellation fees will apply.

For monthly plans, you will be invoiced monthly in arrears after your first 30 days has been completed. You will be invoiced on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel your subscription. You can cancel My Safety Buddy at any time when on a monthly plan.

For annual plans, you will be invoiced for your first 12-month period after your first 30 days has been completed. You will then be invoiced on a recurring annual basis at the start of each 12-month period until you cancel your subscription.

All support queries are responded to in less than one business day by our support team in Australia.

Often we will call the user to clarify their query and provide immediate over-the-phone assistance to resolve the issue.

Journey Monitoring with My Safety Buddy uses the combination of a Scheduled Check In and Welfare Checks.

To setup Journey Monitoring:

Step 1. Schedule a Check In for your estimated time of arrival at your destination.

Step 2. Set the frequency of the Welfare Checks to how often the driver is to take a break, for example, every 1 or 2 hours.

It is recommended that the Check In Prompt Period for the Welfare Checks is set to 15 or 20 minutes to allow the driver time to find a suitable location to safely stop their vehicle in order to complete the Check In and have a break.

Activate My Safety Buddy whenever you feel unsafe or at risk so the My Safety Buddy 24/7 Monitoring Service or your internal emergency contacts know what is going on. They will follow your pre-set instructions, including calling emergency services (police / fire / ambulance) if needed.

For emergencies (for example: someone needs urgent medical attention, your life is being threatened, there has been a serious accident or a serious crime), call Triple 000 as well as activate My Safety Buddy.

My Safety Buddy is essential in case you are unable to call Triple 000, or emergency services (police / fire / ambulance) are slow to respond, or if emergency services decide they will not respond at all to your situation.

REMEMBER: If you are unable to call Triple 000, shake your phone to activate the My Safety Buddy Duress (Emergency) Alarm.

My Safety Buddy will send Emergency Notifications to the user’s emergency contact(s) by automated voice call, SMS and email when an emergency alarm is activated.

When an emergency alarm has been cancelled, My Safety Buddy will send alarm cancellations to the user’s emergency contact(s) by SMS and email.

Emergency Notifications are NOT sent when the user completes check ins without triggering an alarm.

My Safety Buddy Emergency Notifications are included in the Basic, Plus and Premium plans.

Each user may have as many emergency contacts as they like.

Generally it is best to have two or three emergency contacts for each user to ensure at least one emergency contact is always available to respond.

For example, you may choose to have a team leader plus a couple of other people to be the emergency contacts for all staff in the team.

My Safety Buddy SMS Broadcasts are used to send messages by SMS from the Web Portal to one, some or all of the users in your My Safety Buddy Network.

This functionality is available on the Basic, Plus and Premium plans.

Each My Safety Buddy SMS Broadcast sent from the Web Portal by your administrators to your users is $0.10 (incl. GST) per standard SMS per recipient.

Note: All SMS sent to Emergency Contacts when an alarm has been activated are included in the monthly subscription.

Bulk User Setup is our process to create and configure accounts for all your administrators and all your users.

We guide you through the collection of your users’ information and we then use our bulk upload facility to set up all your users in My Safety Buddy.

We can help you to manage the people side of implementing My Safety Buddy in your organisation in order to optimise the benefits and minimise the obstacles for your organisation, staff and customers.

A user’s location can be extremely important in an emergency to assist emergency contacts when responding to an alarm so we generally recommend that you use this feature.

However this is optional and each user can configure their location tracking settings according to their needs.

For annual plans:

  • Invoices are generated at the start of each 12 month period.
  • Payment of the invoice can be made by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

For monthly plans:

  • Invoices are generated at the start of each calendar month for the My Safety Buddy services used in the previous month.
  • Payment of the invoice can be made by Direct Debit (bank account or credit card) or by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

For monthly plans:

  • You will be billed monthly in arrears for each user at the rate of the plan you have selected.
  • Where a user has started part way through a month, you will only be billed for the new user for the part of the month they were using My Safety Buddy.

For annual plans:

  • Additional users may be added at any time to an annual plan.
  • A minimum number will apply to the number of additional users that can be added at any one time.
  • The additional user licences will have the same anniversary date as the initial user licences on the annual subscription and will be invoiced pro-rata to the initial user licences.
  • You will be invoiced on either a monthly or quarterly basis in arrears for any additional user licences added to your annual plan.
  • Where additional user licences have been added during a multi-year subscription, the invoice for the annual subscription fee at the start of each subsequent 12-month period will include the initial user licences and the additional user licences.

  • Where a user has been removed part way through a month, you will only be billed for that user for the part of the month they were registered to use My Safety Buddy.

  • You may reduce the number of additional user licences at the end of each 12-month period if additional user licences had been added during a multi-year subscription; however, the adjusted number of user licences may not be less than the number of user licences at the start of the first year of the annual subscription.
