PRESS RELEASE: “Can Technology Keep Your Lone And Isolated Workers Safe?” – Workplace Mental Health Symposium

I was pleased to be a guest presenter at the Workplace Mental Health Symposium organised by the Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Association.

In my presentation “Can Technology Keep Your Lone And Isolated Workers Safe?”, I discussed how development of our lone worker personal safety solution, My Safety Buddy, had given us unique insights into the best technology driven solutions on the market for lone worker safety.

The main issues I addressed in my presentation were:

  • The risks and consequences of an injury to a staff member who is working on their own or in isolation.
  • Key features organisations must consider when implementing next generation lone worker safety solutions (such as duress alarm, man down alarm, welfare checks, check ins and journey monitoring).
  • The benefits of smartphone app solutions for lone worker safety compared to stand alone devices that use older technologies.
  • Potential roadblocks including staff who struggle with technology, general resistance to change and implementation fatigue.
